ON LECTURERS THAT EXCHANGE "B"s FOR SEX

A friend here on FB posted a touching story of her encounter with a lecturer that requested for her nude picture. They exist like that in large numbers. I infact have some private evidences of few of them, caught in the act.

This noxious phenomenon raises questions concerning the integrity of grading and award of degrees in the academics. It discourages culture of intellectualism among ladies. If you can easily get a B for joining in salacious conversation or act with your course lecturer, then why waste sleepless nights on reading or writing assignments. For girls who are decent and principled, it puts them at the risk of being deliberately failed by any lecturer who gets hard from thinking about them. In fact, it may become a misfortune for  male students in relationship with such girls that might have been eyed by a loose-zip lecturer. Such male student has just made himself an invincible enemy in his course lecturer.

At the bottom of this untoward behavior is sexism and gender discrimination. Why in heaven would you as a lecturer look on a female student, and think, of all the good things in this world, that your dick is more important in her life than knowledge? It is part of the primitive, outmoded culture of male chauvinism that permeates African social relations. A male lecturer suddenly thinks a girl is a sex object, and you should not waste pedagogy on her. Respectfully sir, that is sexism, it's sexual degradation, and it's a nuisance out there.

 My comrades in the feminist movement, and all other groups committed to the liberation of females in Africa, please take up this struggle, and let's cool off some lecturers' erections. On campuses where this nonsense goes on, and with a Student Union in place, the Union leaders are completely reactionary and irresponsible. Or simply cowardly before lecturers who have turned themselves into omnipotents. Either ways, that Union leadership is reactionary. Drag them to the media, demand for their resignation or sack!

Behind this sex for mark nonsense is the nature of the academic system itself, retaining most of its medieval traditions in Nigeria, and it's tendency to confer omnipotent power on lecturers. The process of grading should be more transparent. Anything that is done in secret has a proclivity to be evil and corrupted. Students should have unhindered access to their marked exam papers, and be able to cross check with their colleagues'. In a way too, criteria for scoring marks should be spelt out. If awarding of scores follows coherent criteria, there is no reason to shroud grading in secrecy or mystify the whole process altogether. If any lecturer wants to be seen as a god, he should go back to his village and build a shrine. The academic institution should encourage freedom, not inhibit it.

I must say lastly that there is no intention to generalize this growing trend, as I am well aware of pedagogical lecturers, who are strictly for teaching-business. I learnt a great deal from them. It is not the case that I do not learn anything of note from the morally depraved ones. But I call most of them to question today; if your life is antithetical to what you teach, there is a problem. For every lecturer that sleeps with students, the integrity of every results, projects, seminars they have graded have arrays of question marks haunting them. They need to be exposed as the fraud they are.

Personally, I have taken it upon myself to start a campaign against them. I have four female siblings, and lots of nieces, for crying out loud. They should be approached like their male counterparts, and not be treated differently because of their breast or ass.

Keep your dick in your trouser. Mentor your students...Don't destroy their sexual life for their future husbands.
