ABUSED. Chapter 3

Our dating period continued steadily and Kayode continued to be nice to me. My 24th birthday was drawing close by and he reassured me over and over that we were meant to be together.

"We're soul mates, Olajumoke" he always tells me.

He was trying to change his job and switch to a better one, so the interview invites distorted our pattern and influenced our relationship physically but we made up for it with calls and messages. I wanted to throw a birthday party, a small one and invite my friends, co workers and my best friend, Olaitan was planning to come down from Abuja as my birthday coincidentally fell on the period of her working leave. Kayode scattered the ground and refused to let me invite anyone ; I begged him to no avail as he kept reiterating that he didn't want anyone to take my attention from him, especially my best friend I hadn't seen in a long time.

"Besides, didn't you tell me Olaitan just broke up with her boyfriend? I don't want her to be jealous of our relationship and try to sabotage things" he complained

I burst out laughing "Hahahaha, you sound so jealous. But seriously, she's not like that...i know her so well and I know she's going to be happy for us"

"My gut feeling says she's going to spoil  things between us and I don't ever want to lose you. I'm never wrong" he said again and I kept laughing at how ridiculous he sounded. I ended up caving, canceled my plans and promised to tell my friends the next day that there would be no birthday party.

Olaitan threw a fit and when she calmed down, she criticized him a lot. She told me how much she thought he was controlling me.
I was irritated and this ended up driving a wedge between us. By  the time my birthday rolled around, I was without a best friend but I didn't care -  I had Kayode. Thinking back to that phone call now, if she hadn't given up on me, she would have saved me a lot of heartache.

Despite the stress of searching for a new job and my birthday happened to be on a Sunday, boo made my birthday extraordinary. He got me a nice gown and took me for a romantic date to one of the newest restaurants at Lagos Island and even with my complains about how exorbitant the price of food was, Kayode happily paid.  That night,  we went back to his apartment where he gave me a gold chain with matching earrings.

It was the happiest night of my life and I told him there and then that I was ready to give my body to him. Kayode was kind, tender and a considerate lover. I wasn't a virgin but it was the best love making of my life as he kissed me all over, knew the right places to touch and took me to new unimaginable heights. That night, i got home around 12am because I had to go to work the next day. I never took off my gold chain and two weeks after my birthday, we spent the weekend again at his parent's place and I was welcomed with no inhibitions. Everything  was perfect.

Then in May, my boss at work was getting married and normally, I was invited. Kayode agreed to come with me with the condition that he would choose my outfit and I gladly accepted, knowing that he had a high taste in fashion. An Ankara was chosen but no one got to know about it until it was too late. Boo bought me a yellow cleavage revealing straight dress with hight slits in front; accentuating my curves and reveling my thighs. I complained about how indecent it seemed for a wedding and he accused me of being ungrateful. I don't want anything to rock out boat, so I agreed but he never got over his anger.

The wedding came and he was still in a sour mood over the dress incident and I wanted to give him space to get rid of the anger.  He showed up for the party and put up a good show, as none of my co-workers we shared a table with knew anything  was wrong. He contributed to our conversations but I knew something was wrong. He had a dark look the whole time, and that told me there was a volcano seething under the surface.

It started innocently, Ridwan, a coworker sitting beside me had accidentally brushed my bare arm with his hand as he was reaching for his soft drink. He blew up and threatened to slap Ridwan for 'caressing'  my arm. I embarrassingly tried to tell him that it was not intentional but he maneuvered me away from the party hall and dragged me to the roadside, got us a bus to his apartment without saying a word the whole time

''What was that" he roared, towering over me and looking deranged.

"I don't know what you mean"  I said with a shaky voice

"With that nasty guy. He was taking advantage of you" he screamed at me

"Haha, are you crazy? How can you say that"

"Don't lie to me!" he yelled as he backhanded me across the face and I felt my lower lip split.

That night, he tore off my panties and dropped his boxers.

"I love you, baby" he did as he finished up.

I cried to sleep.

  1. Interesting. Girls can see the sign from a long way off but once they have a guy that's financially stable they throw reasoningvout the window. I hope kissing a bloodied lip doesn't lead to HIV sha
